Pattaya authorities lowered the boom on parking scofflaws in the Soi Arunothai Community.
Pol. Maj. Jirawat Sukontasap, chief of the Pattaya Municipal Police, led officers and soldiers on a June 20 tour of the central Pattaya neighborhood following complaints about parking chaos.
Community President Amnuay Muangthong welcomed the officers and escorted them around Wattanaporn Village on Arunothai Soi 18 where not only cars cluttered the street, but all manner of obstacles blocked off parking spots.
Soldiers called out residents and ordered them to remove chairs, barriers and other items, informing them they cannot reserve public streets for their personal use.
Some car owners were told to move their vehicles elsewhere as they were left in no-parking zones. Owners for some vehicles could not be found and the army made plans to return to have them moved.
