Mayor Mai Chaiyanit checked the progress on the 1.9 kilometers of roadwork Sept. 7. The eight-meter-wide road is being resurfaced to be 25 centimeters thick with new drainage laid underneath.

The first half of the job, running from the Baan Lang intersection to Tara Pattana School, already is complete, but not yet open to traffic. Contractors currently are working on sidewalks and reinstalling lights.

Work on the second half of the project, from the school to Tungklom-Tanman Road, has just begun and is slated for completion by Jan. 7.

The 44.6-million-baht project began Jan. 28 under the supervision of Supatra Ruamkha Nongprue.

Authorities reminded motorists to drive carefully through detours, as the area has many dug-up sections.

The outlook for Soi Siam Country Club was not as rosy, with no completion estimate set due to flooding and other problems that have delayed work.
