Women and ladyboys working in Pattaya’s bars will compete for 18,000 baht in prize money when the Sisters transgender-rights foundation stages the first Miss World AIDS Day pageant Dec. 1.
The contest, open to adults over age 18 of any gender or nationality as long as it can be verified they work in a Pattaya bar or entertainment venue, aims to highlight the HIV and AIDS risk faced by sex workers in Pattaya’s nightlife sector.
The winner will be named a Sisters Foundation ambassador to campaign and work for the prevention and control of sexually transmitted diseases.
First place will take home 10,000 baht, with second and third places winning 5,000 and 3,000 baht, respectively.
The pageant kicks off at 10 p.m. at the Dragon Man Club in Pattaya.
