Trees along Pattaya Beach between are being uprooted to make way for widening the road from the Dusit Curve to Soi 4.

Contractors this week began transplanting 133 Beach Road palm trees to make way for new parking spaces.
Deputy Mayor Manote Nongyai on Oct. 4 inspected an under-construction road leading into the Eastern National Indoor Sports Stadium where the trees will be replanted.
The project is part of the 166-million-baht redevelopment of Beach Road, which was delayed a year by protests original plans to remove sea almonds and many old, large trees to allow for the widening of the street and addition of 700 parking spaces.

The revised project calls for the widening of Beach Road only from the Dusit Curve to Soi 4, addition of only 200 spaces and transplanting of only palm trees. Unlike the past, the trees will not be turned into mulch, but replanted on both sides of the stadium access road.
The work will narrow the 11-meter Pattaya Beach promenade by two meters. Work will be done in 100-meter steps.

Some of the 133 Beach Road palm trees have been replanted on the new road leading into the Eastern National Indoor Sports Stadium.
