Pattaya businesses are feeling more confident after surviving the El Nino-fueled drought, as a new La Nina brings heavy rain to refill reservoirs.
Many major hotels that use great amounts of water can now breathe easier, knowing their guests will be comfortable and the hotel won’t run dry.
Through May, many residents and businesses had suffered due to the small amount of water in Mabprachan Reservoir, which prompted the Provincial Waterworks Authority to lower water pressure region-wide.
However, according to the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association, everyone is breathing a sigh of relief as La Nina sparked an early rainy season, quickly refilling eastern lakes.
Pattaya has enough water, in fact, to help out Laem Chabang but has contacted five other water suppliers to prepare for next year.
