Fat, fit and fancy, felines were everywhere as Royal Garden Plaza hosted the first Pattaya Cat Show.
Sponsored by the Cat Fanciers Association, the Dec. 8-9 exhibition featured shows, contests and feats of feline fearlessness. Among the latter was a pair of black-and-white tomcats, Tid Tue and Pid Pee, who drove a motorbike better than many Pattaya residents.
Cat owners received information on pet health, obtained vaccinations and sterilizations and pet-less cat lovers were given a chance to adopt.
Cat owners also were able to pit their pets against each other the following day, with Tued Tue taking the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! prize for fattest feline at 9.2 kg. He won a certificate detailing his 21 cm. girth.

Meanwhile, Cookie, a Maine Coon-breed cat, won the award for longest tail, coming in at 37 cm.
Cat People also got a shot at the spotlight, with kids competing for 10,000 baht in a “cats seduction” dance contest. The Hello Angel team, comprised of 13-year-olds, won.
CFA President Sunan Sowprasertsuk was impressed by response to the show and said it likely would return to Pattaya next year.
