Pattaya officials launched another in their periodic checks of advertising signage on Walking Street.

City Councilman Anupong Bhudanawarut, president of the Administration and Peace Maintenance Committee, led the group of 20 city workers and officials to the South Pattaya nightlife strip Dec. 21 to check that signs were at least 6.5 meters above the ground to allow emergency vehicles to pass underneath.

They tested the heights by driving a fire truck up and down various sidestreets.

Anupong said 10 signs were found in violation of regulations. The owners of each sign were informed to raise or remove them by January.

Similar inspections are carried out regularly, the most recent one coming in September.
