Arrest warrants have been issued for a Pattaya police officer and two police volunteers for allegedly conspiring to rape and extort a karaoke bar worker.
Sr. Sgt. Maj Kithikhun Fonruang, 30, and volunteer Pana Mekala, 26 – along with a third man identified only as Thee – reportedly were to surrender to police Oct. 23 for the alleged abduction and assault on the 26-year-old woman.
She filed a complaint with police saying she was abducted by the three men with whom she reportedly had a past business dealings, around 3:30 a.m. while going back to her room in Thepprasit Soi 8.
She said she was taken to the entrance of the Thepprasit Night Market where Kithikhun allegedly left her in the custody of the two other men. They demanded 20,000 baht for her release, she added.
When she said she didn’t have the cash, they allegedly took her to a hotel on Soi Photisan in North Pattaya where they raped her, stole her ATM card and demanded she pay them 5,000 baht to prevent another incident.
She went to the police instead.
