Doctors and city officials made house calls in Naklua as Pattaya continued its “Doctor at Home” program.

Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome dispatched medical staff to the Old Naklua Market neighborhood Dec. 14 to administer medicine, provide checkups and give advice to those unable or unwilling to visit a hospital.

Phrayao Thongboriboon, 77, was one of those. Unable to walk and suffering from a myriad of illness, Phrayao received a checkup and was given new medication. Doctors also promised her a new pair of eyeglasses.

In some cases, outreach doctors will insist on hospitalization. Other times they will simply check blood pressure and sugar levels, create medical files for possible later use and review pharmaceutical prescriptions.
