Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul toured Pattaya, checking on staffing levels and the preparedness of police and safety officials.
City Manager Wuthipol Charoenpol, Tourism Authority of Thailand Pattaya office Assistant Director Akkapol Taweesuntorn and Pattaya Tourist Police chief Pol. Maj. Piyapong Ensarn took Kobkarn to Pattaya Beach near Central Road where the usually empty lifeguard station was miraculously manned for her visit. A stroll down the beach found four other stations also manned and Tourist Police busy as bees around the area.
They then shuttled the minister to Bali Hai Pier where legions of officers, volunteers and medics assisted tourists bound for Koh Larn.
To the public officials’ relief, Kobkarn exclaimed how impressed she was by Pattaya’s preparedness and how the many staffers interact with tourists, aiding those with disabilities and assuring safety.
She then sped back off to Bangkok to assure her superiors that all was well in Pattaya.
