PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has reported that upper Thailand continues to experience cool to cold weather, urging residents to take care of their health amid the chilly conditions. In Bangkok and its vicinity, cool morning temperatures are expected.
According to the 24-hour weather forecast, a high-pressure system or relatively strong cold air mass covering upper Thailand is weakening. Meanwhile, westerly winds in the upper levels are prevailing over the region, maintaining the cool to cold conditions. Residents are advised to stay warm and be cautious of fire hazards due to the dry weather.
In the south, the northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea remains strong, causing rough seas. The lower Gulf of Thailand will see waves 2-3 meters high, with waves exceeding 3 meters in stormy areas. In the upper Gulf, waves will be around 2 meters, while in the Andaman Sea, waves will range from 1-2 meters, rising to over 2 meters in thunderstorm-prone areas.
Residents along the eastern southern coast are warned of strong waves hitting the shore, while mariners in the Gulf and Andaman Sea should proceed with caution and avoid sailing in stormy areas. Small boats in the lower Gulf are advised to remain ashore for another day.
Air Quality Update
Dust and haze accumulation in upper Thailand remains moderate to good, as moderate winds help with air circulation.
In Bangkok and its vicinity, morning temperatures will be cool, with lows of 19-20°C and highs of 29-31°C. (TNA)
