Hotel staff and navy personnel together donated a total of 12,000 cc of blood during the blood drive at the Centra Maris Resort Jomtien.

The Centra Maris Resort Jomtien with the cooperation of the 1st Coastal Defense Regiment, Air and Coastal Defense Command of the Royal Thai Navy jointly held a blood donation drive aptly named “Blood donation from the heart, One donor, Many recipients”

The blood drive on Sep. 2 was led by Chaiphun Thongsuthum, Area General Manager on behalf of the hotel management and staff and Lt. JG. Taveesak Thiplamai, civil affairs officer of the Royal Thai Navy.

Spokesman for the Thai Red Cross society said that blood stocks were low and hospitals around the country do not have enough blood in reserve for treatment of patients in emergency cases, patients waiting for surgery or blood diseases and victims of accidents.

He said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, blood donations fell to a critically low level due to restriction and lockdowns. Hence regular blood drives are vital to urgently replenish depleted stocks.

GM Chaiphun said that the Centra Maris Resort Jomtien has a policy of donating blood 4 times a year, but unfortunately due to the pandemic, this was the first blood drive for this year. Nevertheless, 30 hotel staff together with navy personnel donated a total of 12,000 cc of blood on that day.
