Pattaya mayor presents awards on Teacher’s Day

Calling educators “priceless individuals in society,” Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome honored and encouraged more 800 Pattaya teachers at a National Teacher’s Day celebration at the National Indoor Sports Area.

The Jan. 16 ceremony honored teachers from the city’s 11 public schools as well as Wat Chaimongkol Children’s Development Center and Darul Ibada Mosque Children’s Development Center.

Punya Rattaanporn, abbot of Chaimongkol Temple, opened the event with blessings by monks from the South Pattaya temple. Teachers and officials reciprocated with offerings of rice and basic necessities.

After reading a declaration from the Ministry of Education, Itthiphol presented plaques and awards to 74 teachers, the school principal and vice-principal of the year.

The principal of the year award went to Jirasak Jitsom of Pattaya School No. 11 while the vice-principal award went to Yaowarat Rattanaliem of Pattaya School No. 3.
