Pattaya officials tended to the basics of city management Friday: Lights and water.

Deputy Mayor Pattana Boonsawad and advisors inspected a side street near the VC Hotel that was totally dark after sunset. Residents complained that the conditions were ripe for traffic accidents and crime.

Pattana ordered staff to contact the Provincial Electricity Authority immediately to install streetlights.

From there the team went to an area behind Pattaya School No. 8 where residents complained about broken underground water pipes and water leaking continuously.
Plans were made to have the Provincial Water Authority to repair the pipe.
