Pattaya plans to install public toilets along its beachfront.
At a Dec. 14 Pattaya City Council meeting, Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome said the city does not have an adequate number of public restrooms to serve its five million visitors a year, many of whom spend the day outside on the beach or playing sports.
The city has hired a private company to construct modern, international-standard public toilets and present a business model to the city on how to collect usage fees and generate enough income to keep them maintained.
