Pattaya, Thailand – In a bid to address rising concerns about crime and enhance the safety of residents and tourists, a significant security exercise took place at the Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya on the evening of June 30. The activity, held under the “Protecting Chonburi” initiative, aimed to tackle criminal activities that could potentially impact tourism in the area.
Led by Chonburi Governor Thawatchai Srithong, the security drill emphasized the importance of maintaining a secure environment for both locals and visitors. More than 300 officers from various departments participated in the security drill, supported by 21 police cars and 37 motorcycles. The collaborative effort aimed to eradicate crime and safeguard the public and tourists, targeting specific groups such as wanted individuals with criminal backgrounds, drug users, and those involved in firearm-related offenses, explosive materials, counterfeit weapons, fireworks, and street racing incidents.
The initiative was prompted by the alarming increase in criminal activities, particularly incidents involving firearms that have resulted in loss of life and significant damage. Recognizing the urgency to restore community confidence and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for tourists, the authorities launched the “Protecting Chonburi” campaign.
