Pattaya sunk concrete pipes and an old wooden boat to rebuild Pattaya Bay’s coral ecosystem.
Acting Mayor Chanapong Sriviset was joined by Windsurfing Association of Thailand Secretary Pattana Boonsawat and Orawan Sukananwong, president of the Pattaya Community Association, at the Oct. 7 event at Jomtien Pattaya Pier.
Chanapong said the city lays new artificial reefs each year to foster the group of coral – which serve as the foundation for marine life – using disused concrete pipes and other items.
