PATTAYA, Thailand –The Thai Meteorological Department has reported that a moderately strong cold air mass is currently covering upper Thailand, leading to cooler temperatures and strong winds in the region. While the heat has eased slightly, some areas in the North are still experiencing thunderstorms. Residents are advised to take care of their health due to the changing weather conditions.


In the South, the eastern and southeastern winds remain strong, bringing heavy rainfall to certain areas. The lower Gulf of Thailand is experiencing waves of 2-3 meters, with storm-affected areas seeing waves higher than 3 meters. The upper Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea have waves between 1-2 meters, but they rise to over 2 meters in stormy conditions. Authorities have warned small boats in the lower Gulf and far-offshore Andaman Sea to avoid sailing until March 21.

Dust and air pollution levels remain high in the North due to weak winds, while central, eastern, and northeastern Thailand have moderate levels of air pollution.


Bangkok & Metropolitan Area: Slightly cooler with strong winds. Temperature: 23-35°C.

North: Cool mornings with isolated thunderstorms (10% of the area), mainly in Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, and Tak. Temperature: 16-38°C.

Northeast: Cool mornings and strong winds. Temperature: 16-31°C.

Central: Slightly cooler with strong winds. Temperature: 22-35°C.

East: Slightly cooler with strong winds. Temperature: 21-34°C. Waves around 1 meter, rising to 1-2 meters offshore.


South (East Coast): 20% chance of thunderstorms, heavy rain in some areas (Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Narathiwat). Waves 1-2 meters in the upper Gulf, 2-3 meters in the lower Gulf.

South (West Coast): 20% chance of thunderstorms (Trang, Satun). Temperature: 23-36°C. Offshore waves above 2 meters in stormy areas.

Residents in affected areas should prepare for changing weather and rough seas, while seafarers should avoid sailing in dangerous conditions.
