Pattaya to hold annual New Year’s Eve chanting ceremony at Wat Chaimongkol

Join the New Year’s Eve Chanting Ceremony at Wat Chaimongkol in Chonburi on December 31.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Wat Chaimongkol in South Pattaya, in collaboration with the Chonburi Provincial Culture Office and Chonburi Buddhist Office, will host the province’s annual New Year’s Eve chanting ceremony on December 31. The temple will serve as the central venue for the event, with over 3,000 seats prepared to accommodate attendees.



Phra Thep Vachirapanyaporn, the abbot of Wat Chaimongkol, shared that the temple was chosen due to its readiness to host thousands of participants. The ceremony will begin at 10:09 PM and will be presided over by Chonburi Governor Thawatchai Srithong. The event will feature the ceremonial presentation of the royal flame and sacred water from the Supreme Patriarch.

On January 1, 2025, the temple will also hold a merit-making activity, inviting the public to offer food to 165 monks, with the collected dry food being donated to local charities in Banglamung District. Participants are encouraged to wear white or respectful attire for the ceremonies.

Over 3,000 seats will be available for attendees to participate in this sacred event, with a special merit-making ceremony on January 1, 2025, to welcome the New Year.
