Pattaya tourists remain, but hide from hot sun

The streets and beaches may look empty now that Songkran has ended, but look inside or after dark and Pattaya still is playing host to a good number of tourists.

The boiling sun is driving people indoors to air-conditioned shopping malls. Many stores are still busy, with vacationers remaining in town during the school holidays. They’re also coming out once the sun goes down.

Ruanghiran Kangwan, 42, lead administrator at the Thepprasit Night Market, said vendors have been doing well since March due to higher temperatures during the day.

Maria Gequillana, PR and Marketing Communications Manager at Royal Cliff Hotels Group, also said business has remained stable despite the official end of high season.  She added that the hotel business is still going well with stable numbers of bookings in the summer season.
