PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department reports a drop in temperatures by 1-3°C across upper Thailand, accompanied by strong winds. Residents in the region are advised to take precautions to maintain their health during the colder weather and to be cautious of potential fire hazards due to dry and windy conditions.

A high-pressure system or cold air mass from China has spread over upper Thailand and the South China Sea, causing cooler weather and strong winds in these areas. Meanwhile, the northeastern monsoon, combined with a low-pressure system over southern Thailand and Malaysia, is bringing heavy to very heavy rain to some areas in the southern region. Residents in the South are warned to prepare for possible flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothill areas, near waterways, and low-lying regions.

Additionally, strong winds in the Gulf of Thailand are generating waves 2-3 meters high, with heights exceeding 3 meters during thunderstorms. Coastal residents along the eastern shores of southern Thailand are urged to exercise caution due to strong waves, while mariners should navigate carefully and avoid stormy areas. Small boats in the Gulf of Thailand are advised to stay ashore during this period.
