Pattaya Youth Band Music Contest scheduled for Feb. 22

Nearly 50,000 baht will be up for grabs as Pattaya youths sing and play music at the Pattaya Youth Music Band Contest Feb. 22.

Deputy Mayor Wutisak Rermkitkarn met with City Manager Pakorn Sukhonthachat and Pattaya Women’s Development Group President Nawarat Khakhay to finalize details of the event, which is open for registration until Feb. 9.

There will be two contests: A country music-singing contest for kids 18 and under; and a youth band contest for musicians 22 and under. The winner of each category will take home 10,000 baht. Second and third place will receive 8,000 baht and 5,000 baht, respectively. There will be seven consolation prizes.

Auditions for the country-music contest will be held Feb. 9 at Pattaya City Hall. Applicants must supply their own backing music and 10 finalists will be chosen for the final round on Feb. 22 on Pattaya Beach at Central Road at 3 p.m.

The youth-band segment will audition on Feb. 21 at the Central Road site with finals the next day.
