Pattaya’s beggar problem has not subsided with the reopening of the city.

Despite efforts by social welfare organizations to move beggars to homeless shelters and police to crack down on trafficking gangs, it’s still easy to find people begging in the city.

On a stroll along South Road on March 8, a woman carrying an infant – not necessarily hers – was spotted walking and asking passersby for money. Taking pity, some obliged.

Not far away, a surly looking man sitting on the pavement with a cup didn’t fare as well.
Beggars usually scurry away at the first sign of law enforcement.
