The Provincial Electricity Authority put out smoking power lines on Sukhumvit Road threatening to turn into a fire causing a widespread blackout.
Work crews rushed to the busy highway opposite the Makro warehouse store Jan. 12 where residents reported a loud bang and smoke coming from power lines and an on-pole transformer.
Using a ‘cherry-picker’ truck, workers cut power, replaced the damaged wires and installed new insulators.
PEA officials said the win had caused a cable to touch a steel support, causing an electrical arc.
The entire operation was completed within 30 minutes.
