The Provincial Electrical Authority reached out to Pong Sub-district residents to help them prevent power outages.

The Aug. 30 workshop at Wat Pong High School sought to educate Pong residents on electricity safety and usage and outline the responsibilities of the PEA in bringing power to their homes and businesses. The seminar also reviewed the process of how residents can report power outages.

PEA Pattaya station manager Somsak Phityaphongporn said because of the distance from downtown Pattaya to rural Pong, power outages take longer to resolve. By improving reporting of power problems, those delays can be reduced, he said.

The PEA wants to train 100 area residents in the correct procedures to use. Somsak said by making residents a part of the system, electrical service to the outlying sub-district can be improved.
