Eight pious narcotics addicts who pledged to give up drugs for Buddhist Lent were arrested at a meth- and grass-fueled party the night before the holiday.

Sattahip District Chief Noraset Sritapatso and security officers raided the chicken farm in the Moo 3 village of Najomtien July 8, arresting four alleged dealers and four other users.

The party was being held to celebrate the start of Buddhist Lent July 9 during which time the partygoers supposedly vowed “no use, no sale” of drugs for the three-month Lent period.

The alleged dealers taken into custody were Peerapat Kaewthida, 20, with 2 methamphetamine tablets and 350 baht in marked bills; Pattarayu Singhawuth, 20, with 0.57 grams of crystal meth and a drug scale; Theerathi Lertpreech, 28, with 1.5 g. of marijuana; and Pichit Lopyam, 28, with 1.8 g. of marijuana.

Four other unidentified drug users also were arrested.
