PATTAYA – A Plukpub Canal-area resident was given 15 days to vacate his property before Pattaya demolishes it for encroaching on public land.

Engineering Department inspector Maruth Uthaiwattananon posted the 15-day notice April 27, telling the occupant of the two-story concrete home at 269/2 Moo 5 in Naklua that the city will knock down the building at his expense in mid-May.

The unidentified owner, who built the house on 80 sq. meters of canal land without a permit, will be billed 194,000 baht. If he doesn’t pay, the city will auction off the remains of the house within 30 days to cover the cost.

The demolition order originally was filed on Oct. 6, giving the homeowner 45 days to demolish the building or leave. But he appealed to Chonburi Province, which this year denied the appeal.
