A Nongprue village will install a second cesspool to stop its sewage from overflowing into a neighboring development.
Deputy Mayor Niyom Tiengtham, engineers and soldiers visited the Mabpradu Community on Khao Talo Soi 3 Jan. 24 to follow up on wastewater management following complaints about sewers recently backing up and flooding Darapan 5 village.
What they found was there had been no progress with Darapan flooded with wastewater overflowing from a garbage trap installed at neighboring Ekmongkol 8 village. The sub-district had installed the 288-cu. meter cesspool on the border between the two villages, but it has proved insufficient.
Community President Supaporn Sampakaew, a Darapan 5 resident, said roads and sidewalks are continually flooded with smelly puddles of sewage from Ekmongkol 8.
The two villages are located on the jurisdictional boarder of Nongprue Sub-district and Pattaya, so city workers recently got involved by constructing a thick wall and installing curved pipes to take sewage to underground pipelines. Yet the overflow continues.
Ekmongkol project manager Thanabadee Atchaklit said the village will try to solve the problem by installing another large trapper. He said the village has only 20 homes and this kind of overflow should not occur. He blamed rain for the flooding.
