Chonburi police arrested a drug addict wanted in Nakhon Sawan for allegedly killing his 3-year-old daughter.
Ronnachai Pannon, 27, denied stuffing dirt into the girl’s mouth and leaving her to die behind a potato field in Nakhon Sawan’s Lat Yao district.
He and the girl were last seen around 5 a.m. Jan. 3 when he took the toddler from her bed and disappeared into the jungle.
Ronnachai denied taking the girl, saying he pursued her real abductor and discovered his daughter under a pile of dirt. But he claimed he saw the ghost of an old woman there and ran away in fright.
He told police he then left to meet his girlfriend in Bangsaen. Police were tipped off to his whereabouts by someone who recognized him from TV. He was captured by Chonburi police at a gas station.
Police said Ronnachai failed a drug test. The woman he was supposedly going to see denied plans to meet Ronnachai, saying he was a drug addict.
Ronnachai was charged with murder and taking illegal drugs.
