Naklua retailers are on the lookout for a woman caught on video stealing mobile phones on display at small shops.
Chanita Chantee, owner of the Gift for Phone shop in Nongprue Moo 11 village, shared video of the July 22 theft of a display model smartphone from her business.
The thief was a young, thin woman who came into the shop while Chanita was out, leaving her 65-year-old father Thongyu in charge.
The woman feigned that she wanted to sell her old phone, but couldn’t strike a deal with Thongyu or Chanita, who he called. Afterward, when Thongyu was distracted, the woman pocketed a pricey new phone on display and fled the shop.
She was captured on video, which Chanita shared online. Commenters claimed the woman was the same person who stole another phone from a shop on Naklua Soi 14 the same day.
Police are investigating.
