PATTAYA, Thailand – A group of teenage criminals was swiftly apprehended for the robbery of a Russian tourist in Pattaya. The incident took place in the early hours of February 8, when a Russian tourist had their two mobile phones, 4,500 Thai baht, and important documents stolen in the area of Wat Boonkanjanaram Soi 8, South Pattaya.

After receiving a tip, police from Pattaya City Police Station and Tourist Police launched a manhunt. Within a few hours, they tracked down the suspects—two 16-year-olds and one 18-year-old—in a house in Wat Boonkanjanaram Soi 5. The suspects were found in possession of the stolen phones and the victim’s passport, and were smoking cannabis and drinking Kratom water. Police also recovered a blue Honda Wave 110 motorcycle, which had been used in the robbery.

The suspects admitted to the crime, revealing they intended to use the stolen money to buy cannabis and Kratom. They also confessed that they were part of the same gang responsible for a previous attack on a Belgian man on Christmas Eve, December 25, 2024, where they used knives to rob the elderly victim of 7,000 baht.

Within six hours of the robbery, police had arrested all the suspects and gathered evidence, including surveillance footage, to ensure the case proceeded through the legal process.

The suspects were caught using drugs and laughing, unaware of their impending arrest by police in Pattaya.
