Jomtien Beach police were able to talk down an unidentified foreign man before he could fall or jump from 10-meters up a tree.
The man, believed to be homeless and in his 50s, was sitting and smoking in an Indian almond tree at Seagal Village around midnight July 19. Police, Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan medics, and Pattaya Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department rescuers responded.
The unidentified climber is finally convinced to return to solid ground.
Authorities went up in a crane to talk to the man, who seemed less than interested in conversation and refused to get down. Officials were afraid he might fall, but he man also gave indications he planned to jump.
Eventually he agreed to come down although police are still unsure what drove him up a tree.
