Chonburi teachers are teaming up with provincial police to rid schools of drugs and other vices.

Gov. Khomsan Ekachai launched the “One School, One Police Officer” program September 10 at Cholrasadorn Aumrung School in Chonburi.

Abhisit Ruenjit, director of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 18, said the program is aimed at ridding schools of drug use and preventing abuse by students on and off campus. The program also targets pornography, gambling and fights.

So far, 155 administrators and teachers from 31 schools have been honored for anti-drug work by the National Command Center for Drugs. For the expanded program, police from Ban Phraew Station and the Thunyarak Foundation have been brought in as speakers.

The teachers from each school – designed as the forensic, prevention and administrative teachers – will join one police officer in each facility to help solve the drugs and vices issue.

A key part of the program will see school administrators separate “good,” “at risk” and “addicted” students into separate groups, with activities organized for each to stop and prevent future drug use.
