Two drunk Thai men were arrested for allegedly punching two off-duty police volunteers attempting to break up a fight at a Third Road bar.
Kumphol Umnimai, 31, and Thawachai Suphasa, 19, were arrested at Raan Khao-Tom Chomphalung around 3 a.m. Aug. 29 following a dust-up over another pub patron supposedly leering at one of the men’s girlfriends.
Cuffed and ready to sleep it off in the local jail.
Police claim Kumphol and Thawachai confessed they’d attacked an unnamed patron out of jealousy and that two other men had stepped in to break up the fight. Neither identified themselves as police volunteers, the suspects said, and because they were not in uniform, they’d assumed the volunteers were friends of the lecherous victim.
The intoxicated Kumphol and Thawachai were charged with drunk and disorderly conduct and locked up overnight to sleep it off.
