Fire devastates Baan Payaimai
10 fire trucks and emergency medical volunteers were called to a massive fire of a tourist attraction on 124/9 Soi Mabsong-Nongyai Soi 10, Moo 6 in Nongprue at 11am on Friday the 6th of May.
The incident took place at a popular tourist attraction known as Baan Payamai which is a traditional Thai style building set on 1.5 rai of land made completely out of wood.
The firetrucks from Pattaya, Pong and Nongprue all battled against the flames and it took them an hour to get things under control.
The owner Mr. Khuntong U-Nguen was standing nearby, witnessing his dream go up in flames, his family were in floods of tears. He was able to tell the police that Baan Payamai was still under construction but was open to visitors who loved to see the traditional buildings made entirely from pradu, teak and takhian wood.
He was unable to guess as to what caused the fire and early indications lead police to believe it may have been an electrical fault which coupled by the crippling heat meant that the fire spread rapidly.
Luckily no one was injured during the blaze but despite the efforts of the fire fighters the damage was estimated to be around 100 million baht.
The forensics department from Region 2 will now investigate the buildings to ascertain the cause of this devastating fire.
