Deep and wide holes are bringing safety fears and traffic problems to Soi Bongkot, where frequent flooding caused part of the road to collapse.
Holes as wide as 40 centimeters have pocked the busy Soi Bongkot intersection with Pattaya 3rd Road and Soi Batman for about 10 meters. The need to slow down and swerve the potholes has caused persistent traffic slowdowns.
The holes also fill with water, masking their danger and causing motorbike accidents.
A nearby resident said the road subsided due to heavy trucks serving condominium construction sites frequently crossing the intersection. Heavy rain and flooding exacerbated the problem.
Residents are demanding the city fix the road as soon as possible.
