Pong authorities are hunting for the driver of a sewer-cleaning truck that dumped its load of raw sewage in a tapioca field.
Mayor Suntorn Ketthong and his deputies went to the field off Soi Ponglang 4 Dec. 21 to inspect the damage. The sewage was dumped on a sloping tapioca field and ran downhill, spreading the stinking offal over a 500-meter area.
Pong water trucks washed down the area, but the damage to crops and noses lingered.
Suntorn issued a warning to all area pump trucks against illegal dumping.
Sub-district Clerk Kittisak Monkaew vowed to track down and prosecute the polluter.
