Khet Udomsak preschool closes after HFMD outbreak

Khet Udomsak officials have closed the Ya Pa Yub Child Development Center after one of its 93 students became ill with hand, foot and mouth disease.

Pairoj Malakul Na Ayuthaya, mayor of the Sattahip sub-district, said about 20 other children stopped attending the preschool after one child develop red spots in his mouth, a primary symptom of the Enterovius 71 illness.

School director Saengjanpen Aareewat said the center would remain closed through Aug. 5. And the local Public Health and Environmental Office was disinfecting the facility.

Saengjanoen maintained that the center observes strict hygienic measures, including making children wash their hands and disinfecting toys and equipment.
