Thawatchai said the club is trying to raise money for a new braille printer as well as other student and teaching media. The school’s existing printer is old and breaking down and a new one costs 800,000 baht.

The club president pointed out that printing the essential braille books the blind students need is nearly 7 times more expensive than printed books for the sighted. Normal books cost about 150 baht to print but a braille edition costs 1,000 baht.

The fundraiser will feature a comedy show and magic acts by blind students.

Tickets for the 1:30-4:30 p.m. fundraiser are available for 1,000 baht from the Redemptorist School for the Blind. For more information, call 038-225-479 or 081-329-0788.
