The head of Provincial Police Region 2 apologized to a Siam Commercial Bank clerk shot accidentally by Ban Chang police.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Jitti Rodbang­yang brought commanders of the Rayong and Ban Chang police stations to Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center Dec. 20 to deliver a fruit basket to Netthip Phusuwan, 25.

Netthip was shot in the shoulder Dec. 18 when traffic inspector Pol. Maj. Nikom Paneim dropped his Glock 9 mm. handgun. The pistol discharged, striking bank customer Nared Nuansri in the back and Netthip Phusuwan in the shoulder.

Jitti said the Royal Thai Police will cover all medical expenses for both victims and discuss other compensation.

Meanwhile, Nikom was sent to a disciplinary commission, which will prosecute him for carelessness leading to injury.
