Pattaya is planning new sidewalks, public areas and road resurfacing around Bali Hai Pier to ease traffic and parking problems.
City council members and Engineering Department staffers joined City Manager Pakorn Sukhonthachat June 3 in a walk from Third Road to the South Pattaya jetty June 4 to survey the changes needed.
Councilman Sanit Boonmachai said the city’s strategic plan requires development to support traffic systems and law enforcement efforts to make traffic more efficient.
Officials study a land survey in order to plan new sidewalks, public areas and road resurfacing around Bali Hai Pier to ease traffic and parking problems.
Existing sidewalks under the Bali Hai interchange at Third Road will be demolished and rebuilt to become asphalt walkways 2.5-3 meters wide from the end of Third Road to under the interchange, a distance of about 400 meters.
At the curve leading into the entrance of Bali Hai, public parking facilities will be built and another traffic lane added.
Finally, the Athajinda ring road at the base of Pratamnak Hill will be rebuilt as a concrete road 10 meters wide and public parking added.
