The imposition of a traffic roundabout at Bali Hai Pier appears to be paying off, with congestion noticeably lessened.

Large buses picking up tourists and public buses now go left in a circle before stopping on the right side near the old harbor. Originally, the pickup point was in front of pier entrance, resulting in traffic jams.

The change was made because, even though speedboats were removed from pier-area streets, cross-traffic and many public-transport vehicles servicing the pier still created problems.

A inspection of the pier area Jan. 13 found that having vehicles that are picking up tourists and public buses going left around the circle then stop on the right side is working, with backups reduced.
