The commander of the Royal Thai Fleet offered get-well wishes to a sailor aboard the new HTMS Bhumibol Adulyadej injured during Tropical Storm Pabuk.

Adm. Noppadol Supakorn brought a flower basket and compensation money to Petty Officer 1st Class Boonsom Promchart at Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center in Sattahip Jan. 9.

Boonsom, an artillery chief, was thrown off his feet and cracked his skull when the ship was hit by a towering swell during the storm Jan. 3. He also broke his collarbone and sprained a leg.

The HTMS Bhumibol was en route from a shipyard in South Korea at the time.

Boonsom said he was proud to be part of the mission even though he couldn’t participate in the welcome-home ceremony due to his injury.
