A Russian man has been arrested for the July 9 killing of a Pattaya woman’s pitbull terrier.

Alexander Ponomarev, 30, was arrested Oct. 7 after Pac-Pattaya, an animal rights organization, filed a complaint with police about the slaughter of Rot Thang, a seven-month-old male pitbull owned by 58-year-old Duangporn Sabua.

Duangporn had been walking her dog near a restaurant by the Welcome Jomtien Hotel at Jomtien Beach July 9 when she saw Ponomarev walking with two knives in his hands. Seeing the Russian, the pitbull barked and the Russian allegedly then attack the dog, stabbing it until it died.
