A Russian woman said she was robbed by a motorcycle taxi driver who took her to a dark street instead of her hotel.
Laila Ibahimova, 28, said she was attacked near the Rom Po Market in Jomtien Beach Sept. 9. She was able to contact a Thai friend who took her to the police.
Ibahimova said that she was coming back from a night out on Walking Street and hired a motorbike taxi at the Siam Bayshore Hotel. Her destination was Pattaya Park, but the man passed the entrance, taking her to a soi near the market before snatching her bag and assaulting her. She lost about US100 and a mobile phone.
Police are investigating.
