Samitivej Sriracha Hospital will invest more than 800 million baht to construct a new building to upgrade treatment and service.

Hospital Director Noppadol Nopakhun announced the expansion May 23, saying the new building was necessary due to Sriracha’s population growth and the expectation the facility will handle 1,500 outpatient cases a day by 2015.

“From 2008 to this year, the number of patients has increased, leaving the hospital not enough space to accommodate them,” Noppadol said. He said more growth is expected in 2015, when Thailand joins the ASEAN Community, spiking the amount of international visitors to nearby industrial parks. An increase in elderly patients is also expected.

The new 12-story building will offer 70 examination rooms and more than 140 patient rooms. There also will be parking facilities to accommodate 600 cars. Completion is scheduled for 2014.

The new building will allow Samitivej to bolster services such as cardiology, underwater therapy, and open the region’s first physical-rehabilitation center, he said.

When the new building comes online, the hospital will begin renovation of its existing facilities, Noppadol said.
