Sattahip District Chief Noraset Sritapatso called on sub-district and village heads to step up efforts to eradicate drugs within their jurisdictions.
Meeting with police from Najomtien and Plutaluang sub-districts as well as village chiefs and volunteers from eight towns Dec. 22, Noraset said drug problems have become a national priority, but must be tackled at the provincial, district, sub-district and village level.
He told them to tackle the issue and not ignore their responsibilities.
Local law enforcement and civil officials are stepping up efforts in Sattahip to eradicate drugs within their jurisdictions.
So far in December, authorities in Sattahip have opened nine drug cases, six of which involve dealers and the balance concerning drug use. Officials have seized 71.5 grams of marijuana, 44 methamphetamine tablets, 2.2 g. of crystal meth, and one gun, he said.
