Not everyone who finds a huge monitor lizard in their car would be happy, but one Sattahip man took it as a lucky omen.
Thongchai Chaowsuan, 67, said a dog chased the lizard down is Najomtien Moo 4 village street May 30 and the reptile took refuge in his Toyota Corolla. Five animal control officers were called to remove it.
The lizard’s head was stuck in the engine compartment and the dog was waiting for it to re-emerge. The officers chased off the dog and opened the car in a two-hour operation to free the animal.
Thongchai said he and his family believed the monitor lizard would bring them luck as the monthly lottery results would soon be announced. He bet on the address number of his house and the license plate number of the car.
It is unknown whether or not he won.
