A Sattahip Naval Base deputy commander has taken the big chair in the military’s October rotation.
Vice Adm. Suthep Wangmaithree was installed as base commander at an Oct. 1 ceremony.
Fifteen shots were fired from the Pinklao Fleet to officially announce the promotion, with Suthep taking the podium afterward for his first speech.
As commander of the country’s main naval base, Vice Adm. Suthep is in charge of managing active sailors and training new ones. Other tasks include supporting natural-disaster relief missions and maintaining peace and order.
