More than 2,000 Sattahip residents planted 6,000 trees to reforest Khao Baisri.

Vice Adm. Wipak Noyjinda, commander of Sattahip Naval Base, opened the Aug. 26 event at the Chalermprakiat forest. The event was attended by government and military personnel, students and residents.

The group planted yangna, takina thong, kon klaow, mak mong, tabaek, Siamese rosewood, payom, pradu, lamduan, takob, wah, makokani and nonsri seedlings provided by the Chonburi Plant Station.

The operation was so large, the assistance of three aircraft was needed.

Wipak said the reforestation event was organized in honor of Their Majesties the King and Queen to make the Sattahip hillside green again.

The trees will cover 30 rai of land which features a bicycle route running through it.
